Construction worker taken to hospital after accident at Laurencetown chapel

A construction worker was taken to hospital following an accident at a chapel in Laurencetown on Thursday morning.

Ambulance crews were despatched to the St Patrick’s and St Colman’s Church on the Holymount Road shortly before 9am.

According to Tullylish Parish a roofer was injured prompting the parish priest to cancel morning Mass.

A NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) spokesperson said: “We received a 999 call at 8.57am on Thursday, September 5 following reports of an incident in the Holymount Road area of Gilford.

“NIAS despatched one emergency ambulance crew and one rapid response paramedic to the incident.

“Following initial assessment and treatment at scene, one patient was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance.”

The injured person’s condition is unknown at this stage.
