Armagh selected as venue for charity’s MegaPull challenge

Armagh’s Mall will play host to a major fundraising event for Cancer Focus Northern Ireland next month – and they are looking locals to come forward if they are up to the challenge.

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland is calling all heroes to assemble for the Man Van MegaPull this Men’s Health Month to raise funds and keep their mobile health unit, the Man Van, on the road.

Armagh is one of five locations where the challenge will be staged.

The charity need fearless fundraising individuals to take on the challenge of pulling the 2.5 tonne Man Van over 500m, in teams of four, through Coleraine, Armagh, Omagh, Belfast and Magherafelt – a total of 30km across Northern Ireland.

All of the money raised from the Man Van MegaPull will help fund the Man Van, a purpose-built mobile health unit that provides lifesaving messages and offers health checks to men across Northern Ireland.

Visitors on board the Man Van can have their body composition and measurements assessed, receive one-to-one health awareness advice, blood pressure and blood glucose checks.

The local ManVan challenge will take place on the Mall in Armagh on Saturday, June 23, from 9am until 12 midday.

Registration for the Man Van MegaPull is £30 and Cancer Focus NI is asking participants to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship for taking on this epic challenge.

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest group of four in each location, with a grand prize awarded to the hero with the largest fundraising total across the whole campaign.
