T G Hawthorne’s hold ‘genuine’ renovation sale with up to 80% discount on everything!

'Absolutely everything is reduced. There will be none of this inflating prices ahead of the sale and everything is going to be reduced with a lot of stock available for immediate delivery'

A family-run Armagh-based furniture store is set to hold a massive renovation sale to make room for new lines and improved displays.

Celebrating 68 years in business this month, T G Hawthorne’s of Scotch Street, Armagh are preparing for what they call a “genuine sale” with up to 80% discount across the entire range.

Neil – one of two Hawthorne brothers running the business – spoke to Armagh I about what the sale entails: “Absolutely everything is reduced. There will be none of this inflating prices ahead of the sale and everything is going to be reduced with a lot of stock available for immediate delivery.

“We deliver all over the North and South – we will go anywhere. Anything within 30 miles will automatically qualify for free delivery. We have our own delivery team who have 40 years of experience between them. They assemble all furniture and clear all rubbish when we are done.”

The store – which was first opened by Thomas George Hawthorne on Thomas Street in 1956 – is the soul stockist of William Morris rugs in Ireland, and boasts a vast selection of home interior products from sofas, to living room sets, dining tables and bedroom suites.

They also have a friendly team of well-known staff on hand to offer any advice – and first-class service with a smile!

“Kenny Boyd has been with us for around 35 years now and everyone knows Kenny; they all come in for the service and a bit of craic. All our staff have been here a lifetime”, said Neil.

Since partnering with Wright’s Interiors four years ago – who are also participating in the renovation sale – the store is now additionally able to provide everything in the way of home improvement.

Added Neil: “Now we do the whole interiors, from planning a house right through to finishing it off. We offer a full interior design service. We also offer wallpaper and paint, and we will deliver it all for free!

“A whole room could be designed from top to bottom at sale price.

“We do carpets and wooden floors, and we have fitters to look after those. There is a fitting and measuring service with Wright’s too for bespoke curtains and blinds.

“We also have one of the biggest rug displays in Northern Ireland. There’s people that come from all over just for the rugs.”

The store last underwent a structural renovation around 10 years ago. However, this time around promises to be much more straight forward with only a few cosmetic changes in the way of introducing more “internal shop displays with settings and curtains.”

The sale is due to start on Thursday May 30, and patrons are advised that items not currently on display or in stock can still be ordered in at the advertised sale price.

Any items in stock will be available immediately and items ordered in will take approximately six – eight weeks for delivery.

Items that are discontinued or in older colours will also be heavily discounted.

T G Hawthorne’s will continue to operate within their normal trading hours throughout the sale and renovation period, however, they will be closing at 1pm on May 29 to make preparations.

You can contact T G Hawthorne via their Facebook page, website or telephone.
