Suspected drink driver arrested in Armagh crash which left one man hospitalised

A suspected drink driver was arrested following a crash outside Armagh which left one man hospitalised on Sunday night.

The single vehicle collision occurred in the Madden Road area – close to Long Nancy’s Pub – shortly after 6.30pm.

A police spokesperson said: “One man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries following the collision.

“A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol. He has since been released on police bail to allow for further police enquiries.”

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said: “We received a 999 call at 6.30pm on Sunday following reports of an RTC in the Madden Road area of Armagh.

“NIAS despatched one Ambulance and one Rapid Response Paramedic to the scene of the incident. The charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board were also tasked to attend.

“Following initial assessment and treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance.

The road was closed for a period while the incident was cleared and a roadside investigation took place.
