‘Star’ of the show: Armagh outdoor living brand celebrate shock win at industry awards

Ray says it was a "big win" as Starview were the only Northern Ireland-based company to be commended at the UK wide awards

An Armagh based hot tubs and outdoor living business has been honoured with a prestigious industry award.

Starview, founded in 2020 by Ray McCall, started with a clear vision – to elevate outdoor living and bring the spa experience right to your doorstep.

With a wealth of experience as a previous building contractor, Ray along with wife and Business Manager Amy Kempton grew the business from the comfort of their own home.

The business idea started during lockdown when Ray sourced a woodfired hot tub for their home. Amazed by the outdoor set-up, Ray’s friend asked him to source him one, before another friend and another and before they knew it, a lorry load of hot tubs arrived to their home.

Five years on and a thriving business selling a large range of premium outdoor products, Starview are eagerly awaiting to open the doors of their squeaky clean showroom in early March, based in their current Armagh location Derryraine Road, Collone.

Shoppers can expect both an indoor showroom and outdoor display area with a selection of their best selling products available including:

Woodfire and electric hot tubs, saunas, ice baths, swim spas, pergolas, log cabins, glamping pods, berg play base trampolines, outdoor kitchens and pavilions.

Starview offers delivery all over Northern Ireland, Ireland and UK wide for an easy customer shopping experience.

Rental options are also available for private use of woodfire hot tubs, saunas and ice baths – perfect for special occasions!

Testimony to their incredible craftsmanship, last year, at the BUILD Design & Build awards, Starview won Best Luxury Outdoor Living Sauna & Hot Tub Company 2024 UK award, recognising the hard work and commitment that Ray and Amy have put into the business.

More recently in November 2024, at the UK Pool & Spa Awards held in the National Conference Centre, Birmingham, they won an award for the best Sunken or Semi Sunken Hot Tub Project, sparked by a project they carried out for the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen.

The winner was selected by a panelist of five industry judges before going to public vote which the Starview pair where unaware of – sharing the public vote link on their social media just two days before the closing date!

Ray said it was a “big win” as Starview were the only Northern Ireland-based company to be commended at the UK wide awards.

“We were completely surprised,” Ray said. “We thought we hadn’t even been named!”

Speaking on how they managed to secure the win, Ray explained: “It was for the project itself, the design, the install and the follow up. The project itself was a replacement tub for their spa and health center.”

Amy further explained how the project came to be:

“It was a project we had never done before for a replacement tub which required working with mosaic tiles.

“Research and time was required to find a supplier who could provide us with the bespoke materials”.

The project was carried out over the course of a few months with special moving equipment required to transport and install the hot tub to ensure it was fitted in pristine condition.

With no expectations of winning and delighted to be recognised in the prestigious category, Amy describes the win as a ‘special moment’.

“It’s one the best awards you can be recognised for in the hot tub industry. When they called our name out we were in complete shock. We never expected to win and we’re just grateful to be recognised in the first place and honestly just over the moon with the win.

“When we got the initial call from the Killyhevlin, we knew it would be something we have never done before but Ray was confident that anything is possible and our team could do it successfully.

“We knew we had done a great job with the project and were delighted with the end results so to then be awarded for that work is the best feeling.”
