Person hospitalised following accident at ‘confusing’ Armagh Mall junction

A person has been taken to hospital following a car accident at a busy and “confusing” junction close to Armagh’s historic Mall.

The accident – involving two cars – occurred shortly after 10am this morning (Tuesday) on Victoria Street outside the gaol.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they tasked three ambulances to the incident.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance.

A member of the public who called into Armagh I‘s office said the junction has long been “an accident waiting to happen”.

They said “no one ever knows who has the right of way when crossing onto Barrack Street or onto the Mall.”

He said the airbags of the car had been deployed and that the car was a “total write-off”.
