Man taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after Folly incident

A man was taken to hospital after reportedly being assaulted with a weapon in the Folly area of Armagh this afternoon (Sunday).

His condition is not known at this stage but he is understood to have sustained serious injuries.

One eyewitness has described the scene of the incident to Armagh I as being “heavily blood-stained”.

The ambulance was on the scene at Killuney Drive – across from the Orchard Leisure Centre – shortly before 4pm this afternoon.

Another eyewitness reported seeing one individual receiving medical attention at the scene.

There have been unconfirmed reports that an axe may have been used, but it is not yet clear if this is the case. There have been suggestions too that the person in hospital may have been stabbed.

A number of police cars attended the scene and it remains sealed off tonight as a detailed forensic examination takes place.

Individual gardens have also been cordoned off within the main cordon area.

The area is expected to remain closed off for some time.

More to follow.
