A man who allegedly damaged five cars at a roundabout in Armagh appeared in court on Friday.
Ronan Patrick Hamilton, of no fixed abode, appeared at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Friday charge with a litany of offences.
There were two bills against Hamilton, the first consisting of threats to kill, harassment, threats to damage property and improper use of communications to cause anxiety, all against the same alleged injured party on September 11.
The 33-year-old also faces charges of six counts of criminal damage, disorderly behaviour, common assault, four counts of assault on police and indecent exposure. The latter set of offences occurred in the Moy Road /Lonsdale Road area of Armagh on the same day, Wednesday, September 11.
None of the specific facts were opened to the court on this occasion.
Hamilton’s defence counsel, Ronan McCourt, asked the judge to consider “an unusual application”, that would allow his client to be admitted to Cuan Mhuire. so that he could receive treatment for his addiction issues.
“He has been clean for a very significant period of time until this latest relapse,” said Mr McCourt and “he’s keen to get back to treatment to rid himself of his demons”.
However, District Judge Eamon King replied: “[Cuan Mhuire] cannot be regarded as a bail address or a hostel address.”
The case was adjourned with Hamilton due back before Dungannon Magistates’ Court on Wednesday, September 18 while his defence solicitor does “what is required to see if he can secure a suitable address for you between now and then”.
