Fundraising drive for Co Armagh man who suffered serious injuries while working in Sydney

Martin Comiskey

Friends of a County Armagh man who suffered serious injuries while working in Sydney earlier this week have set up a fundraising page to help raise 75,000 Australian dollars

Martin Comiskey, who is originally from Madden, suffered severe head and spinal injuries following the accident on Thursday.

Friends and colleagues, both at home in Armagh and Down Under, have been rallying behind Martin as he begins his long road to recovery from his hospital bed.

Such is the magnitude of his injuries, good friend Paul Malone has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise $70,000, and already it has amassed a staggering $68,000 from donators all around the world.

Posting on the GoFundMe page, Paul said: “One of my very good friends Marty Comiskey had a very serious accident at work in Sydney on Thursday morning.

“He has very serious head and spinal injuries and we’re currently waiting to see the outcome of the operation and I assume more operations to come.

“I know Marty wouldn’t want charity as much as the next person and he’s always worked for everything he owned. But considering the seriousness of the situation he’ll definitely need it. So any donation would be greatly appreciated.”
