Fun-filled family music bonanza as Skip Car Tour celebrate fifth birthday

It all happens in Tassagh at the end of the month

It’s a fun-filled family music bonanza as the Skip Car Tour celebrates its fifth birthday with the annual truck and tractors runs.

The Orchard truck run takes place on Saturday, May 27 with the tractor run taking place the following day.

Once again, Marie Curie and Southern Area Hospice Services are the two chosen charities.

Trucks will arrive at Sheils Tassagh from 10am on Saturday morning and park up until they leave at 4pm, with the truck park providing entertainment for all the family throughout the day.

There will be live music with Johnny Brooks as well helicopter spins, a rodeo bull, funfair park, trade stands as well as food and drink.

When the trucks move out you can see them in Keady at 4.15, Newtownhamilton at 4.45, Clady at 5.00, Markethill at 5.15 and Armagh at 5.45.

They will arrive into Armagh from the Newry Road before passing along the front of the City Hotel, taking a left down the slip road and left at McAnerney’s to head back out the Newtownhamilton road arriving back at Sheils’ Bar in tassagh around 7pm.

So pick your spot to view hundreds of trucks pass in convoy.

Saturday night in the Marque at Sheils is party night as the Skip Car tour celebrate their fifth birthday, with live entertainment on stage from 9pm.

Starting the party is Barry Doyle and band with the one and only Box Car Brian.

And to make sure this is the biggest party of the summer, live on stage at 11pm is Paul Kelly and band to perform the number one hit song ‘Tangs Hauling’ live for the first time.

On Sunday it’s the annual ‘Hit The Diff’ tractor run.

See all the new/modern tractors and a flavouring of the much loved vintage tractors park up at Sheils from 1.30pm.

Again this will be a fun day for all the family with plenty happening in the tractor park all day long.

Tractors will leave at 3.30pm and you can see them pass by at Tassagh , Ferla Crossroads, Lisnadill, Gerards Tyres, and turning left on the main Keady road.

They will travel all the way to Keady through the town and arrive back at Sheils for 5.30pm, just in time for the famous duck race in Tassagh river at 6pm.

If you see any of the volunteers collecting along the routes, please make a donation to help raise much-needed funds for two great charities.

You can find all updated info on the TheSkip CarTour’s Facebook page.

The Skip Car Tour would like to say thanks to all the volunteers helping out over the weekend, the residents along both routes and the road users for their patience.
