Co Armagh on flood alert as Met Office issue another weather warning

Co Armagh is expected to suffer from areas of flooding over the next few days

Another day and another weather warning as mother nature threatens to unleash her fury over county Armagh and the entire country once again.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain right across Northern Ireland on Thursday, which is highly likely to bring floods in various parts of the county.

Heavy rainfall will start around 3pm and will last for the rest of the day, into the early part of Friday morning.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Heavy rain will affect Northern Ireland later on Thursday.

“This will fall onto saturated ground and is likely to lead to flooding in places; delayed travel may well result, including through the busy evening period.

“It is possible that a few properties or businesses could also be affected.”

However, things could get much worse for people on the south coast of Ireland come the weekend as a new weather front is expected to hit.

Forecasters say a storm could arrive over the weekend, bringing with it heavy rain and strong winds.

A spokesperson for The Weather Channel said: “A further deep area of low pressure, likely to be the next named storm of the season, is forecast to track from the south-west of Ireland and into the Irish Sea, with anti-clockwise winds.

“These will be moderate to fresh, but strong to gale force on coasts.

“There will be widespread heavy rain in Scotland, Northern Ireland and western Britain, with cloud and patchy rain elsewhere. Maximum temperatures will be in the low to mid teens.”
