An Armagh man has admitted to sexually assaulting a child.
Fifty-three-year-old Adrian O’Hare, of Dobbin Street, pleaded guilty to the sexual assault while standing in the dock of Newry Crown Court on Thursday, February 22.
A second count of sexual communication with the same child, who was under the age of 13, was left on the books.
While details of the incident were not detailed in open court, the incident took place on a date between February 6, 2022 and February 9, 2022.
Pre-sentence reports, which will include a report from a psychologist, will now be prepared ahead of O’Hare’s sentencing on April 16.
His Honour Judge Ramsey KC, addressing O’Hare in the dock, said: “It’s important that when you speak to Probation, give them as much information as you can about your circumstances, background and the circumstances and background of this offence so I have all the information before me when I come to sentence you.”
With that, O’Hare was released on continuing bail, to re-appear before Newry Crown Court for sentencing on April 16.
