Armagh couple ‘traumatised’ as burglars steal jewellery worth thousands from home

The couple - who want to warn others to be on the guard - returned from work and may have disturbed the intruders who fled with two Rolex watches worth around £13,000, a gold Tiffany chain necklace and a spare key to their house

An Armagh couple have been left “traumatised” after burglars broke into their home and made off with jewellery worth thousands of pounds.

The robbery took place in the Cavanacaw Road area of the city on Wednesday.

And now the couple – who police believe may have disturbed the intruders – have asked Armagh I to highlight the incident to warn others to be on their guard.

The home owner explained that she and her  husband had been at work when the burglars broke in.

She said: “They prised open my front door and on leaving the property locked the door with a spare key and took the key with them.

“The police believe I may have interrupted them which is why they then left the property.

“They stole two Rolex watches to the value of around £13,000 and a gold Tiffany chain necklace.

“We would like others to be aware of this as this has left us traumatised.

“We also want jewellers and relevant personnel to be aware of the stolen watches due to the high value of them as the perpetrators may try to sell these on.”

Anyone with information on the incident can contact the PSNI in Armagh on the non-emergency number 101.
