24 hour ‘Badminton-a-thon’ raises over £2000 for Hospice

Lislooney Badminton Club have presented a cheque to Southern Area Hospice services after a ‘very successful’ 24 hour ‘Badminton-A-Thon’ held just after Christmas from December 28 – 29, 2023.

The event saw over 80 players descend on Lislooney Church hall, Tynan, from across counties Armagh, Tyrone and Monaghan.

Some popped in to enjoy food, chat and make a donation while others very kindly donated online.

Homemade pizza, a full breakfast, ice-cream and other refreshments were thoroughly enjoyed throughout the 24 hour period.

A total of £2800 was raised and Flo McCall, a volunteer for the Southern Area Hospice Services received it on their behalf.

The Hospice Service aims to help patients ,who have received a palliative diagnosis, live well with their condition and they provide this through an inpatient unit and community support.

Every year over £3 million is required to be able to provide this services and the charity relies greatly on the generosity of the general public.

A spokesperson for Lislooney Badminton Club said: “We wish to thank everyone who attended, participated, helped and supported the Badminton-A-Thon in any way.”
