Acknowledgement for the late Patrick McGinnity (Derrynoose)

McGinnity, Patrick. RIP Derrynoose, July 11, 2024.

Patrick’s sister Elizabeth, brother-in-law Simon, nieces Diana and Elena and the entire family circle wish to thank all those who sympathised with them on the sad loss of Patrick.

We thank particularly the neighbours, First Responders and Emergency services who attended Patrick on his sudden death.

We very much appreciate the many people who attended the wake and funeral, especially all those who travelled a distance to pay their respects. It was a great comfort to us to see the esteem in which Patrick was held and to hear so many lovely recollections from his friends.

We are very grateful to his present and former students who attended the wake and funeral and recounted stories of how Patrick’s inspiration contributed to their success.

Thanks also to the many people who wrote, telephoned, messaged or posted online their condolences.

We thank the visitors who contributed food and the ladies who made and served the tea throughout the busy days of the wake. Thanks also to Elaine McGuigan and team for the funeral refreshments.

Special thanks to the priests of the parish and to the visiting priests Fr Sean O’Neill, Fr Sean Moore and in particular Fr Aidan McCann who celebrated a very beautiful and uplifting funeral mass. Thanks to Catherine and Dermot for providing the music and to the sacristan for preparing the church.

Thanks also to our good neighbours for digging the grave and to those who provided the overnight vigil.

Finally to Mone Funeral Directors for their sensitive and professional handling of all the funeral arrangements.

In case we have overlooked anyone, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a sincere token of our appreciation for the many acts of great kindness shown to us by our neighbours, relatives and friends.

Patrick’s month’s mind mass will be held in St Mochua’s Church, Derrynoose on Friday August 9, at 7pm.
