Acknowledgement for the late John Maye (Armagh)

Maye, John. We, the family of the late John Maye, would like to express our sincere gratitude to our family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues and all of those who supported us so greatly since the loss of our father and husband, John.

We have been overwhelmed by the compassion and support that has been given to us by so many. It has been a great pleasure to hear the many great memories, stories and jokes that he had shared with many people throughout his life.

We also received many messages, mass cards, letters and condolences via social media & phone from people in various distant locations who could not be there in person – each one was a little lift for us all.

A special word of thanks to Canon Benny Fee for delivering a perfect eulogy in honour of John, for the delivery of a beautiful requiem mass and his continued support.

To the first responders for their professionalism and empathy on the evening of February 8. To all those who were able to attend the wake and funeral in such large numbers to pay their respects.

To Hugo and his staff at JJ McArdle funeral directors Armagh, for their extreme professionalism and guidance at such a difficult time for us as a family.

To Gary Harte for his help with the preparation of John’s resting place. To Niall Donnelly, Damien Donnelly and Lorna Gervin for the beautiful music on the day of the funeral. To our entire family circle from the Maye and McAtavey families.

To Barry and Martina Lynch, for their support with Holly and Frankie over those difficult days. To John’s colleagues at Asda Portadown for their tremendous support and kindness. To Niall and the team at The Gables, for the lovely food and hospitality afterwards.

It is virtually impossible to thank each person individually for their solidarity with us, however we trust that this acknowledgment goes a small way to show that we are truly thankful as a family for the great support that we have received.

John’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday March 8, at St. Patricks Church, Clonoe at 19:30
