Keep up with Armagh i

Acknowledgement for the late Gemma Hughes (Allistragh)

Hughes, Gemma.

Go raibh maith agat.

We the Hughes and Quigley families would like to thank the people of Armagh you have wrapped your arms around us once again with the loss of our beloved mum Gemma.

With each loss this past few years, we have felt such comfort and kindness to the family, through mums’ illness and her passing on October 10, 2023 when she left this earth.

We would like to thank everyone so apologies if we have left anyone out.

All the medical staff especially Mr Donagh Healy, Margaret and the Podiatrist team, Ambulance and Emergency Services, Fr David Nugent for his beautiful Homily, Eilis Fox and her beautiful music, The Valley family for providing Uilleann Pipes, St Colmcille’s and Armagh Harps GFC, Vinney Brady and Loughran Brothers, Coleen Mullan Hairdresser, McArdle Undertakers, Kevin (Nip) and Manus Knipe, Pieg for her comfort.

Everyone who brought food to the house and all the ladies in the kitchen under the command of Martina Quigley who constantly fed us and kept us awake with tea and coffee, Perfect Blends Tearoom and Cordelia’s.

All the grandkids who took part in the mass – your granny would be so proud of you all.

Everyone who visited the house with stories and hugs this gave us such comfort.

We appreciated everyone who travelled from afar Australia, Cavan, Castleblaney, Portrush, Cork and Liverpool. Even though it was a sad time it was so nice to see everyone.

One person who Jane, Dessie, Gary, Paul, Colm, Kate, and Joanne would especially like to thank is Daddy – in mums last 2 years in her ill health he looked after her every day. He cared for her medical needs, cooked, shopped, cleaned, he went to every hospital and podiatrist appointment.

He showed respect and unconditional love for the stunning young woman that he met 60 years ago and was a true gentleman to the end holding her hand when her beautiful spirit left this world.

Thank you Dad XX

Gemma’s months mind mass will be in St. Malachy’s Church, Armagh on Friday November 10, at 7.30pm.
