    Staggering 8,000 names removed from electoral register across county’s two constituencies

    A staggering 8,000 names have been removed from the electoral register across county Armagh’s two constituency areas. These names have been removed from the Electoral Register since the last Assembly election in May 2016. The Newry and Armagh area has seen 4,534 names removed while in Upper Bann, 3,451 names have been scratched from the list. The Electoral Office said that those removed from the list had not responded to its high profile canvass held during the Autumn of 2013. The canvass, which cost around £3.5m, sought to improve the accuracy of the North’s electoral register. It

    ‘How did no one die?’ Driver arrested after car ends up in mangled mess

    A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit after their car ended up a mangled mess following a crash on Sunday morning. A passenger was also treated for injuries. The PSNI Craigavon posted the horrific wreckage on their Facebook page with a message: “How did no one die? Flip, that was a bad one.     Boy, 5, remains in critical condition after being struck by car on Thursday

    A five-year-old boy who was struck by a car in Magheralin, between Lurgan and Moira on Thursday remains in a critical condition. The boy was hit by a blue Vauxhall Vectra in Malcolmson Park at around 4.45pm. He was rushed to the Children’s Hospital in Belfast where he was said to remain in a critical condition.     £435,000 funding to revitalise three Co Armagh town centres

    Almost half a million pounds will be given to revitalise three county Armagh town centres this year. Communities Minister, Paul Givan, has announced funding of £435,000 for projects to revitalise areas within Craigavon, Lurgan and Portadown town centres. The Northern Ireland Executive, through the Department for Communities, is investing approximately £300,000 in this project with the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council investing a further £135,000.     A number of stolen lorries and digger were recovered during a police operation in county Armagh on Wednesday. Detectives in Lurgan recovered a number of stolen vehicles following the search of a property in the Dungannon Road area of Craigavon. The vehicles, including two lorries, two trailers and a digger were recovered following information received from the public.     Man and woman in court charged with crimes committed on Tuesday

    A man and woman are due to appear in court following a number of offences in relation to a number of burglaries. Detectives in Lurgan have charged a 27-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman with a number of offences including burglary, theft, attempted theft and driving whilst unfit. They are both are due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court today (Thursday). The charges relate to a number of incidents in Dromore, County Down on Tuesday 10 January.
