Markethill Festival is back for another year with a fantastic line-up of events for the entire community to enjoy.
Starting on July 25, the committee of Markethill Community Festival have organised a two day Charity Open Garden at Hawthorne’s of Markethill on the Dunesmullan Road.
In support of Armagh Special Olympics Swimming, Motor Neuron Disease NI and Evora [formally Southern Area Hospice] the open garden will welcome visitors from 12pm to 8pm on Friday (July 25) and from 10am to 8pm on Saturday (July 26).
Refreshments and treats will be available to purchase with light entertainment provided by local talent.
A Fancy Dress Parade lead by Mullabrack Accordion Band will then kick off the following Monday (July 28).
Families are invited to assemble at Bingham Square at 6.45pm for the parade start at 7pm.
Children can wear costumes and fancy dress of any kind with prizes awarded for the best in show.
The dress up categories include Best Homemade, Celebrity Lookalike, Funniest and Most Original – so get your thinking caps on!
Judging and a children’s disco will follow in the Small Memorial Hall.
On Thursday July 31, the festival will be hosting a family Car Treasure Hunt and BBQ promising a “great evening of fun with clues for adults and teens plus an eye spy sheet for little people”.
Leaving from the Masonic Hall carpark, the doors will open at 6.50pm with all participants to be back by 9pm. The price for entry is £5 per person including the BBQ. Preschool children go free.
A raffle will be held on the evening with prizes kindly sponsored by White’s Oats and Tayto.
Then on Wednesday (August 6) the festival will host an Over 50s bus trip to Antrim Castle Gardens and shopping at The Junction.
For the price of £20, guests can enjoy transport, a tour of the gardens and lunch.
The tour will last approximately one hour and involves a short walk over flat ground, mostly on paved pathways.
The tour will depart Markethill at 9.30am and return at 6.30pm.
