Hilarious comedy at Market Place Theatre

THERE’S a fabulous mid-Summer weekend of entertainment coming up at the Market Place Theatre in Armagh.

One of Northern Ireland’s leading amateur companies, Belvoir Players, will provide the laughs with their hilarious staging of  ‘Cash On Delivery’. Eric Swan [aided by his uncle George and unbeknown to his wife Linda] has pocketed thousands of pounds through fraudulent DSS claims.

When Norman Bassett [the lodger] opens the door to Mr Jenkins, the DSS Inspector, deceptive mayhem follows  – as do the undertaker, the bereavement counsellor, psychiatrist, Norman’s fiancee, a corpse, the ominous Ms Cowper and a rather rebellious washing machine.  A frantic Linda meanwhile consults Dr Chapman regarding the discovery of her husband’s wigs, bra, corset and stockings! ‘Cash On Delivery’ will be staged on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th August at 8pm. Tickets are priced £11 and £9 (concession).

Little ones will be delighted with the magical combination of live performance, puppet operation and visual invention in Banyan Theatre Company’s ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. A curious young girl weaves her way through the woods to her Grandma’s house in a journey full of surprises… and a playful and imaginative re-telling of a timeless story. ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ will be staged on Saturday 10th August at 1pm and 3pm. Tickets are priced £6.50 each. Tickets can be booked by contacting the Box Office on 3752 1821 or online at www.marketplacearmagh.com
