Putting a spotlight on the Robot Exhibition at the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium

The Armagh Observatory and Planetarium have recently hosted a Robot Exhibition. The observatory is one of the leading centres in the country when it comes to education and research, not to mention that it is a big hit with tourists in the area. They are open most days with various shows taking place in the Planetarium dome. With a full exhibition area and 20 acres of green space, there’s certainly a lot to do, with stunning views of the area for those who have never visited before.

The Future is Now

Media — entertainment media, especially — is putting a bigger focus on space, now more than ever. This is helping to attract people from across the country to new exhibits, like the one hosted by the Armagh Observatory. The action genre has a huge part to play too, as more futuristic elements are being used to make movies and games bigger than ever. Games like Action Bank are a prime example here. This game focuses on you trying to crack a high-tech, advanced vault with symbols that involve dial locks and gold bars. Although it sticks with the classic slot machine theme, the futuristic elements help to add another layer of complexity.

You also have No Man’s Sky, a futuristic game that sees you travelling to different planets on a spaceship, as you harvest materials to grow your fleet and character equipment. No Man’s Sky has also added numerous updates which include alien fishing. On the silver screen, with movies like Interstellar, The Martian and Alien being huge hits with fans, it’s no surprise to see that people’s interest in space is increasing slowly over time, which is great for events like the Robot Exhibition.

The Observatory

The Observatory, which is currently targeting UNESCO World Heritage Status, has a number of exciting features for fans of space. They have some historic telescopes, with the setting of a Georgian building. They also have an active facility for research. If you want to venture inside, the only way you can do this is to go on a public, scheduled tour.

You will likely need to book a ticket in order to attend events such as the Robot Exhibition, which ended on the 31st of August. The event is anticipated to come back next year, for people who may have missed out on the 2024 showcase. Science fiction enthusiasts can usually explore mesmerising androids, cyborgs and robots. You will also see a number of iconic robots from some of your favourite science fiction TV shows.

The event does a great job at telling a story but at the same time, it also explores the changing relationship that we have with technology as a whole. With the option to get up close and personal with a number of exciting robots, this event is always popular and each year it just gets bigger and better.

Although the event for 2025 is yet to be announced, it seems that there is a lot of anticipation building already. New movies that are released this year could well be showcased at the exhibition next year, as the runners of the event do a great job at trying to keep their displays current.
