Armagh is known for having a lot to offer. With a strong tourism industry and several live festivals, it’s quickly being seen as one of the top places to visit in Northern Ireland.

When you look at the bigger picture, it’s evident to see that the media could have a huge part to play here. With Armagh TV already being used to stream local sporting events, it would be interesting to see what alternative avenues there are, and how these could be used to boost awareness of the city as a whole.

Alternative Ways Armagh Could Use Media to Boost Tourism

Armagh TV could be expanded upon, producing promotional content that helps to highlight key tourism sites. This could include the Armagh Planetarium and the Armagh Observatory. Armagh is also home to several local entertainment establishments, including several local bingo halls and casinos. It could be possible to create content based around this too, so people get an inside look at what to expect before visiting. Inspiration could even be taken from the new blackjack games at Paddy’s when curating experiences. Live games could be streamed from local casinos, in the same format as Live Unlimited Blackjack and Free Bets Blackjack. Having a live dealer and authentic setting would not only help to bring people to the area, but it would also show what a strong entertainment market the city has.

When combined with the possibility of streaming live shows, festivals and events, it’s clear to see how much potential there is here. By streaming events, it would also be possible to broaden the reach while showcasing the offerings of Armagh. Streaming is already a feature on Armagh TV, so extending this feature wouldn’t be difficult. With that said, with Armagh having so much to offer, it may be that an individual tourism app is created, based on the smart tourism trend as explained by Worldpackers, to help the market segmented, niche audiences.

Bolstering the Tourism and Hospitality Industry

Armagh has a lot of history, as documented by the Craigavon Historical Society, with sites including the Armagh Cathedral and the stories of Saint Patrick. It could be possible to produce local documentaries that allow tourists to connect with the area, while also showing the city as being a vibrant and cultural hub.

With so many creatives already living in the area, it would be easy to hire talent to make this happen. This would not only help to promote local talent, but it would also allow people to be seen for their creative work while investing back into the local community. Popular people within the area, or known individuals who have a big role to play could also have their features or segments that would help to highlight other areas of the city while also putting a big focus on the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make Armagh everything that it is known for.

If social media was included as a way to try and put Armagh on the map then this would lead to further opportunities, showing what potential there is for additions to Armagh TV, or a new app entirely.
