MULAGHBAWN 0-08 SILVERBRIDGE 0-05
MULLAGHBAWN beat neighbours Silverbridge in the First Round of the Intermediate Championship in Crossmaglen by three points on Friday night.
Mullaghbawn went in at half time leading by 6 points to 3 in what was a typical championship encounter, with no quarter given or asked by either team.
The second half was another interesting battle of tactics and guile with no score until 13 minutes into the half which was then quickly followed by a second point from the Bridge Men to narrow the gap to just 1 point.
But Mullaghbawn battled on and scored the next 2 points which concluded the scoring for the game and was sufficient to progress to the next round.
Whilst Mullaghbawn’s results this year have not been exactly what they would have hoped, Friday night showed that this group of lads have a real good mix of leaders and youthful exuberance which augers well for the future.
The very obvious team bonding was highlighted both during the game and especially afterwards back in the club when Paul Kelly received the biggest cheer of the night when he came in an hour after everyone else nursing a broken arm but wearing a great big smile!
