Witness appeal on New Year’s Eve pub assault

Two men required medical treatment after a New Year’s Eve altercation outside the toilets of a pub in Lurgan, Co Armagh.
And today (Thursday), police appealed for witnesses to come forward after receiving reports of an assault at licensed premises on William Street on Tuesday, December 31.
Some time between 11.45pm and 12.30am on Wednesday, January 1, two men, aged 25 and 27, became involved in an altercation outside toilets on the premises.
Both sustained injuries which required medical  treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information in relation to it to contact them in Lurgan on 0845 600 8000. If  you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Police would also remind the public to be mindful of their conduct while under the influence of alcohol.
Sergeant McBain, Lurgan NPT, advised: “It only takes one punch to hurt or even kill another person. If people indulge in too much alcohol they can often find themselves acting in a manner which they normally wouldn’t. 
“We do not want anyone to find themselves in a situation where they are out of  their depth. We would ask everyone to drink responsibly and take a step back  from any situation where you feel things are getting out of  control.
