A 21-year-old man sustained head injuries after being chased and attacked by two men brandishing hurley sticks.
Police in South Armagh are appealing for information following the attack, which happened at around 3pm on Sunday, May 17, in Jonesborough.
The victim was chased from the market by two men in a white Transit van, which had the partial registration ‘o4-D’.
The man was chased towards Jonesborough village where the two van occupants assaulted him using hurley sticks before making off.
The victim sustained injuries to his head and arm which required medical attention.
Inspector Lorraine Dobson said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this assault or has information which may assist our investigation. We can be contacted in Newtownhamilton on 101, quoting ref: 846 170515.”
