Very firm trade for store cattle

AN entry of 370 cattle at Markethill on Tuesday sold in a very firm trade with store cattle selling particularly well.

Another large entry of 30 sucklers sold in a very good trade to £1400 for a Saler and bull calf.  Others sold at £1370, £1355, £1310 and £1200 each.

Dairy stock sold to £1200 for a calved heifer.

CULL COWS

The 90 cull cows sold in a steady demand with most lots sold being non-FQA.  Cows/heifers to £190 for 500k at £950.  Several more from £150 to £177 per 100 kilos.  Fleshed cows from £125 to £158.50 for 650k at £1030.  Friesian cows from £110 to £125 for 680k at £850.  Second quality cows from £85 to £100 per 100 kilos and the poorest lots from £55 to £75 per 100 kilos.  Aged bulls to £1520 for 1210k Angus (£125.60).

STORE CATTLE

Over 120 cattle sold in the best trade for some time, particularly Friesian bullocks which sold to £162 for 510k at £825 for a Banbridge farmer.  Main demand from £140 to £160 per 100 kilos.  Middleweight friesians to £166 for 410k at £680.  Forward beef bred steers from £190 to £205 for 580k at £1190.  Middleweights from £180 to £228 for 390k at £890.

Reared bulls sold from £500 to £655 and heifers to £445 each.
