Underage drinker suffered from hypothermia

POLICE in Armagh are urging parents to keep track of their children in the evenings and weekends following a shocking incident of underage drinking.

The reminder after a 14-year-old girl was found by police close to the Palace Demesne suffering from mild hypothermia on Saturday night and she had been drinking alcohol with a group of youths when she became ill.

Inspector Nigel Graham, Armagh Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “It was fortunate in this incident that we reached this young girl in time however the end result could have been very different.

“I am asking all parents to take the time to speak to your children. Please make sure you know where they are going and who they are going to be with. The weather is particularly bad at the minute and it is important that your children dress appropriately for the weather conditions if they are going to be out and about.

Police attended and looked after the female until the arrival of NIAS who conveyed the girl to hospital.
