Two men assaulted outside pub in suspected hate crime

Two men were assaulted outside a Portadown pub late on a Friday night.

The two men, aged 25 and 29, were suffered facial injuries in the assault by two other men.

Constable Stephen Somerville explained: “Shortly after 11pm on Friday, 3 April, we received a report of an assault on Woodhouse Street. We attended and found that two males, aged 25 years old and 29 years old, had been assaulted by two men. The injured parties sustained facial injuries.

“A 23 year old man and 27 year old man were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They were later released on bail pending further enquiries.

“We are treating this as a hate crime and would like to hear from anyone who has information which may assist our investigation. We can be contacted in Portadown on 101, quoting ref: 1293 030415.”
