Two arrests after theft from cars and attempted burglary

Police in Portadown, Co Armagh, have arrested two men following a number of thefts from cars and an attempted burglary.
Last night (Wednesday), January 15, it was reported that a number of cars had been broken into in the Castle Street and William Street areas of Portadown.
The windows of a black Peugeot 206, silver BMW, white Peugeot van, silver Vauxhall Corsa, navy BMW and red Hyundai Getz, parked in the Castle Street area, were smashed and items taken from the vehicles.
The window of a white Citroen Relay van, parked in William Street, was also broken and a quantity of jewellery taken.
At 12.06am police received a report of two men attempting to enter a pet shop on Seagoe Road. 
Officers attended and apprehended two males at 12.10am. A 27-year-old and 51-year-old male were arrested on suspicion of burglary and going  equipped.
Police conducted a number of searches in the Churchill Park and Ballyoran Park area and recovered a number of items.
The two men are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
