Thieves make off cash boxes after smashing through front window of Spar store

Police are investigating a reported burglary of a supermarket in Loughbrickland in the early hours of today, Monday, November 13.

Around 2.50am, it was reported that there was a break-in to the Main Street store.

Entry is believed to have been gained through a window that was broken to the front of the building.

Two masked men, wearing dark clothing and gloves, entered the store and cash boxes, containing a value of money, stolen.

They left the scene in a white/ silver Seat Leon in the direction of Dublin Road towards Newry.

A Police Service spokesperson said: “This is a valued community business which has been targeted in this way. It’s our appeal to residents to tell us about any suspicious behaviour in your area. Any suspicious vehicles or callers to your door. No matter how insignificant you think it might be, this information could be important.”
