Fun all the way as Mullavilly PS pupils join International Day of Play celebrations

'When children are given the space to play, explore and lead their own learning, they truly flourish'

Mullavilly Primary School was filled with energy, laughter and happy faces as pupils took learning outdoors to celebrate International Day of Play.

In a day shaped by pupil voice, children led the way, choosing how they played, explored and connected with one another.

From creative games to team challenges, every corner of the school grounds reflected the children’s ideas, interests and enthusiasm.

Throughout the day, pupils demonstrated resilience, perseverance and teamwork, supporting each other, solving problems and celebrating their successes together. It was a powerful reminder that play is not just fun, it is vital to how children learn, grow and build relationships.

At the heart of the celebration was the school’s vision to inspire, nurture, celebrate and flourish, which could be seen in every smile, every moment of encouragement and every shared achievement.

Speaking about the day, the school highlighted the importance of listening to children and giving them meaningful opportunities to express themselves.

Principal Kerrie Hall said: “When children are given the space to play, explore and lead their own learning, they truly flourish.

“Mullavilly Primary School continues to place children at the centre of school life, recognising that play is the work of children and a key foundation for confident, happy and successful learners.”
