CATTLE prices continued at similar levels to previous weeks at Markethill on Tuesday (May 28) with store cattle selling at increased rates.
Dairy stock sold to £1680 for a calved heifer from an Annalong farmer. The same owner received £1600 for a calved heifer. A local farmer received £1400 for a calved Ayrshire 3rd calver. Several more sold from £1150 to £1350.
CULL COWS
In the cull ring cow/heifers sold to £188.50 for 480k at £905. Others from £160 to £184 per 100 kilos. Fleshed cows to £161 for 880k Hereford at £1415. Main demand from £135 to £150 per 100 kilos. Fleshed friesians from £115 to £132.60 for 690k at £915. Second quality friesians from £90 to £105 per 100 kilos and the poorest lots from £65 to £85 per 100 kilos.
Clean cattle to £196.24 for 660k at £1295 and up to £1490 for 790k Hereford (189).
