Steady trade at Markethill sheep sale

AN entry of 1470 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday, March 20 sold in a steady trade.

Heavy hoggets sold to £109 each with a further 22 sellers receiving over £100 per head. All good quality pens sold from 385p to 402p per kilo for 26 kilos @ £104.50 each. In all, 740 heavy hoggets averaged 26.1 kilos @ £98.80 each (378p)

Good quality Middleweight hoggets sold from 388p to 400p per kilo for 23 kilos @ £92 each.

Stores sold from 325p to 370p per kilo for 18.5 kilos @ £68.50 each.

A small number of Spring lambs sold to £118 for 25 kilos. Main demand sold from 485p to 510p per kilo for 20 kilos @ £102 each.

Good quality ewes sold from £75 to £96 each with 2nd quality ewes from £50 to £68 each.

Ewes and Lambs sold readily with good quality doubles to £192 each. Main demand selling from £150 to £190 each. Singles selling from £110 to £152 each.
