AN entry of 450 cattle at Markethill on Tuesday (April 30) sold in a steady demand in all rings.
The 28 lots in the dairy ring sold to £1900 for a calved heifer from a Craigavon farmer. The same owner received £1680 and £1550 for calved heifer. Loughgall farmer calved heifer £1580 and £1400. Kilkeel farmer £1320, £1310 and £1280. An entry of maiden heifers sold from £430 to £570 each.
Suckler outfits sold to £1360 for a Char heifer and heifer calf.
CULL COWS
The 80 cull cows sold readily with all classes in strong demand. Cow/heifers from £150 to £193 for 500k at £965. Fleshed cows from £135 to £155 for 670k at £1040 and up to £1175 for 780k Angus (151). Young friesians from £130 to £148 for 520k at £770. Friesian cows from £105 to £130 for 700k at £910. Second quality from £88 to £100 per 100 kilos and the poorest cows from 370 to £85 per 100 kilos.
Aged bulls from £125 to £140 for 1050k at £1475. Friesian bulls to £166 for 780k at £1290.
