Two men have been arrested after 1.3 million illicit cigarettes were seized in south Armagh.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have confirmed the discovery after searching residential and commercial premises on Wednesday.
Approximately £70,000 cash was also seized during the operation.
Two men – aged 77 and 34 – were arrested and charged on suspicion of excise duty evasion. Both have been released pending further enquiries.
The total duty evaded is estimated to be £670,000.
An HMRC spokesperson said: “The illicit tobacco trade steals money from public services, undercuts legitimate businesses and funds other crimes that impact our communities.
“We will continue to tackle this trade with our partners and we encourage anyone with information about the illegal sale of tobacco to report it on GOV.UK.”
