Man arrested in south Armagh on suspicion of possessing firearm

A man has been arrested in south Armagh on suspicion of carrying a firearm.

The 33-year-old man has been charged with possessing firearms or ammunition in suspicious circumstances after being arrested near Newry.

Detectives from the PSNI Organised Crime Unit charged the man with three counts of possession of firearms or ammunition in suspicious circumstances, possession of class B drugs and possession of class B drugs with intent to supply.

The man was arrested in the Lower Newtown Road area, near Killeen, on Friday, March 15.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court on Monday March 18.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
