A smaller entry of 680 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 29th April returned a strong demand for cull ewes with hoggets and spring lamb prices remaining very disappointing.
Good quality fat hoggets sold to 324p per kilo for 25kilos @ £81.50 each, followed by 300p per kilo for 24 kilos at £72.50 each. Main demand sold from 250p to 272p per kilo.
Heavy spring lambs sold to £80.50 each for 25 kilos A further 6 pens sold at £80 each. Main demand sold from 315p to 332p per kilo.
Light spring lambs sold to 360p per kilo for 21.8 kilos at £78.50 each. Main demand sold from 345p to 356p per kilo.
Good quality cull ewes sold to £128 each. Main demand sold from £80 to £110 each with 2nd quality ewes from £60 to £75 each.
In the breeding ring singles sold to £197 each. Several more sold from £150 to £180 each. Doubles sold to £178 each.
