Residents have been urged to support the Run for Autism event beginning in Newtownhamilton tomorrow afternoon (Saturday).
There are three events, which include a 10 mile run (noon), a half marathon (1pm) and a 10 mile run (1.15pm).
The event, organised by Helping Autism in the Newry District (H.A.N.D.), will begin at the St Michael’s playing fields and ending at Lissummon GAA grounds.
Slieve Gullion councillor Kate Loughran voiced her support for the event.
‘This has become an annual event in Newtownhamilton due to its huge success over the last number of years,” she said.
“Volunteers have been working tirelessly to promote this year’s event which includes a half marathon, a 10 mile run and a 10 mile walk.
“I would urge people in the village and the wider South Armagh area to come out and support the run and make it the biggest to date.
“This fundraiser is hugely important to a great number of people and organisations who benefit from the money raised by HAND. So why not take part in the challenge, raise some money and enjoy what looks set to be a great day.”
