An annual and well attended Richhill car show that has raised thousands of pounds for charity has been called off for the “first time in five years”, leaving organisers “heartbroken”.
The company behind the event, Richhill Tyre Centre made the unfortunate announcement via social media on Monday (June 15).
Yet, despite the regrettable news, they promise it’s not the end!
With a venue of Richhill Presbyterian Church, the car show has seen hundreds descend year-on-year to witness the spectacle, enjoy family entertainment and raise money for several vital causes.
The company said: “For the first time in five years, the RTC Car Show will not take place this summer. To be completely honest, we’re heartbroken.
“What started as a small local car show grew into something far bigger than we ever imagined. Together, we’ve welcomed thousands of visitors, showcased some incredible vehicles, enjoyed unforgettable displays and, most importantly, raised thousands of pounds for Belfast Royal Children’s Hospital.”
They explained that redevelopment works at the car park where the show is held have been the sole reason for the decision, adding, “rather than move the event away from the village that has supported us from day one, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause the show for 2026.”
As mentioned, this is not the end! Organisers promise a return in the coming years and also encourage all those who would have attended in 2026 to focus their attentions on the Big Macmillan Motor Show at Turkington on June 18, 2026.
“We would encourage everyone who has supported RTC Car Show over the years to come along, support a fantastic event and help raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support,” they continued.
“To every sponsor, exhibitor, volunteer, emergency service, business, spectator and supporter who has played a part in making RTC Car Show what it is today — thank you.
“The friendships, memories and community spirit created over the last five years are something we’ll never forget. This year may be a pause. But the story isn’t over. Richhill, we’ll be back!”
