Firefighters tackling substantial house fire in Richhill

Police have cordoned off the Aghory Road

Firefighters are currently tackling a substantial blaze at a property in Richhill this morning (Wednesday).

Crews from Armagh and Portadown are in attendance at the house fire on the Aghory Road. Smoke can be seen billowing from miles away.

Police have cordoned off the road and motorists are advised to avoid the area this morning.

The operation is still ongoing following the report shortly after 5am.

It is expected to last a number of hours.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson said: “On Wednesday 18 November 2020 at 5.04am, Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a detached house on Aghory Road in Richhill, Armagh.

“Appliances from Armagh, Portadown and Pomeroy Fire Stations as well as a Command Support Unit from Lisburn Fire Station and the Specialist Rescue Team have been in attendance throughout the course of the incident.

“The incident is currently ongoing.”
