
A controlled explosion was carried out on an unexploded World War II mortar in Richhill.
A security alert began just before 8pm on Sunday evening.
Inspector Browne said: “At around 7.45pm on Sunday evening, January 21, police received a report of a suspicious object which was discovered in the Woodlawn Heights area of Richhill.
“Local officers attended and held a scene overnight. Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) attended this morning, Monday, and following examination, it was confirmed that the object was an unexploded World War II mortar. A controlled explosion was carried out.
“I want to thank the public for their cooperation, which allowed us to bring this security alert to a swift conclusion.”
