Police say video doing its rounds on social media is a result of three officers getting injured.
They say incident “evolved when we attempted to effect an arrest in relation to possession of drugs”.
A statement on their Facebook read: “Many of you will have looked at a video that is doing the rounds on social media of an arrest we made on Saturday night.
“The Police Ombudsman are investigating this incident so we are limited in what we can say about it as we do not want to jeopardise their investigation.
“What we can say is that this incident evolved when we attempted to effect an arrest in relation to possession of drugs. As we attempted to make this arrest three police officers were injured.
“We are keen for the Ombudsman to complete their investigation so the facts of this incident can be shared. It is easy to make assumptions and to pass comment in the relative anonymity of social media but we would ask that, like us, you wait for the outcome of the independent investigation to inform your comments.”
