A prisoner has been found dead in Maghaberry prison.
It is understood the prisoner, 34, was found in his cell by prison guards at the county Antrim facility.
The cause of the his death is being investigated with a post mortem due to be carried out.
His next of kin have been informed.
Acting Prison Service Director General Phil Wragg said: “I would like to extend my sympathy and that of the Northern Ireland Prison Service to the family of the prisoner. My thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
It is the third death at the prison in less than a month.
Prisoner Barry Cavan from Belfast died at the prison on November 15 while Gerard Mulligan died on November 5.
Both died as a result of suicide.
