Woman struck on head and beaten with bat as she walked to car

A woman was beaten across the head and then attacked as she lay defenceless on the ground in Portadown on Tuesday morning.

Police are investigating the report of the vicious assault on a woman in the Lisnisky Lodge area of the town yesterday.

The woman was making her way to her parked car at around 7am when she was struck to the head, from behind, with a stick or bat.

She fell to the ground and was struck several more times to her head and body before the assailant left the scene.

The woman was treated in hospital for cuts and bruising following the incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to contact them in Lurgan on 101 quoting reference number 309 18/12/18.
