Two additional classrooms in plans for Portadown high school extension

The Education Authority has submitted a planning application that, if approved, will see a two storey extension built at a Portadown junior high school.

The application was submitted on Monday, July 26 by agent Paul McAlister Architects Ltd and verified by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s planners on the same day

It seeks to build a two storey extension within Killicomaine Junior High School’s existing courtyard to provide for two additional classrooms.

According to the planning application form, the 0.09 hectare site is currently in use as a school building and car park. The extension will provide for a 279m2 increase in floor space.

Drawings submitted with the application show the extension will be used to provide a geography classroom, store and cloakroom and on the first floor, a learning support room, store and chill out room.

The application will be advertised until Friday, September 3.
