Tributes have been paid to a Portadown mother and daughter who will be laid to rest after a joint funeral service on Sunday.

Barbara Trouton (neé Adams), of Brownstown Road, passed away unexpectedly in hospital on Thursday, just two days after her much-loved mother Mabel Adams.

The funeral of Mrs Adams, who died in Rosemont Care Home, had been due to take place on Friday but was postponed after the sudden death of her daughter.

A joint service will take place at 2pm in St Columba’s Parish Church on the Loughgall Road, with committal in Kernan Cemetery.

Tributes have been paid online to Mrs Adams and her daughter.

One person wrote: “So shocked about Barbara. She texted me on Tuesday to tell me her mum had passed away.”

Another said: “Mabel was a lovely lady that I truly had a pleasure of knowing when I was a carer out in the community and her daughter Barbara always cooked her mum her Sunday dinner before I arrived and all I had to do was reheat it for her….prayers and thoughts to all the family circle.”

A further tribute read: “So sorry to read this about Barbara and her mum, two such lovely people- sincere condolences to the family circle.”

A death notice said Mrs Adams was the wife of the late Billy, mother of Gary, Sandra, Audrey and the late Barbara, mother-in-law of June and Philip, and a nanny and great-nanny.

Mrs Trouton was the mother of Victoria and Denver, mother-in-law of Andy & Bec, sister- in-law of Philip and June and grandmother of Emily, James, Connor and Archie.
