A funeral will be held on Thursday for Portadown man, Andrew Robinson who had been missing in the area for an agonising 42 days.
A large scale multi-agency search and rescue operation was launched, primarily focused on the Bann River, following Andrew’s disappearance on November 15.
Police officers, Coastguard teams, boat crews, canine search and drone units were all involved in extensive searches along the river and surrounding areas.
Sadly, his body was recovered during a search on December 27.
The find brought to an end 42 agonising days of uncertainty for his family, who had kept an unwavering vigil at the riverside in the hope that he would be brought home.
Sharing her heartbreak the day before his recovery, his wife Ruth said: ““How is it even possible that you walked out the door 42 days ago. 42 days without you. We spent everyday of this last 21 years together and now suddenly you just gone. How will I ever get used to you not being in my life and our amazing boys lives. I don’t think we will ever recover from losing you. I wish you knew how much you are missed…42 days waiting patiently by the riverside in the hopes that today just might be the day this nightmare ends and we get to bring you back to us.”
Following a post-mortem examination, the father-of-two will now be laid to rest on Thursday January 8 at The Old Meeting House in Portadown at noon.
Donations are being gratefully received, if desired, for the Volunteers and Rescue Services who worked tirelessly around the clock and in all weather to find Andrew.
