Three teenagers sustain injuries in tea-time stabbing incident

Three teenagers are understood to have sustained injuries in a stabbing incident in Portadown.

It is understood that two boys and a girl were hurt at around tea-time on last night (Saturday).

According to the local charity organisation Portadown Cares, it happened close to the bowling pavilion at the River Bann.

The charity later said there were unconfirmed reports of two arrests having been made.

The extent of the injuries are not known.

An eyewitness reported: “I was walking to my car at Tesco and saw the police getting out and jumping over fences to catch the kids who I hear stabbed three kids.

“Well done to the PSNI and emergency services for arriving on time.

“Not a nice situation to witness on a Saturday afternoon.”

Local Independent Councillor David Jones expressed his sadness on hearing of the news and his hope was that none of the teens had been seriously injured.

He said his “thoughts and prayers are with them and their families at this time”.
