Suspected heroin and cash seized during house search

Police in Portadown have seized suspected heroin during a planned search.

Officers conducted a search of a house in Ballybay View this morning (Tuesday).

A quantity of suspected heroin was seized, in addition to a sum of cash.

A 32-year-old man was arrested for possession of Class A drugs, possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.

He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Local Ulster Unionist councillor and Upper Bann Assembly candidate Doug Beattie MC has welcomed the seizure and commented the PSNI and particularly the DST in Portadown.

“It is further evidence the PSNI will pursue anyone who peddles their vile drugs trade in our town which affects young and old as well as all corners of our society,” he said.

“The arrest of a male is also welcome news and I hope those who feel selling them on our street is worth it soon find themselves in custody.

“This zero tolerance on drugs is what must be expressed by all levels of civic community and I urge anyone with information about drug dealing in the town to get in touch with the PSNI.”
