Stephen Barriskill murder: Suspect in Portadown man’s death appears in court

The 63-year-old was found dead at a property in the Whitesides Hill area of the town on Wednesday morning.

A Portadown man has appeared in court today (Friday) charged with the murder of Stephen Barriskill.

The 63-year-old, also from Portadown, was found dead at a property in the Whitesides Hill area of the town on Wednesday morning.

Connor Lawrence McNeill, of Whitesides Hill, is also charged with possession of firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.

Appearing briefly via videolink from police custody at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, the 53-year-old confirmed that he understood the charges and was connected to the same by a police constable.

Defence solicitor John McAtamney made had no questions to the connection and informed the court that no bail application would be launched at this stage.

McNeill was remanded in custody as the case was adjourned until November 5.
